In 2015, Siemens filed a lawsuit against Xinchang-based Siemives Household Electric Co., Ltd, its shareholder Mr. Wu, and Shaoxing-based Bangdai Electric Co., Ltd. Siemens claimed trademark infringement and unfair competition after consumers in Taiyuan City mistook Siemives products for Siemens. The court of first-instance ordered Siemives and Bangdai to cease infringement, compensating Siemens 100,000 yuan. Disagreeing with the judgment, Siemens appealed to Zhejiang Higher People's Court, which in 2016 upheld the infringement order and increased compensation to 1 million yuan, also requiring Siemives to change its name. In another similar case, Siemens sued Hainan Ximenzi Century Electric Co., Ltd., and others for trademark infringement and unfair competition. Hebei High Court ruled for Hongtao Distribution Office to cease selling infringing freezer products, Hainan Ximenzi, Ripu Company, and Feilong Company to stop production and sales, and Hainan Ximenzi to change its trade name. The defendants were jointly ordered to pay Siemens 500,000 yuan in damages and reasonable costs, with Hongtao Distribution Office compensating an additional 50,000 yuan.
