Description

Jack Daniel's, one of the most iconic names in the whiskey industry, has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1866 by Jasper Newton "Jack" Daniel in Lynchburg, Tennessee. The brand's first trademark was the distinctive square bottle and label design featuring the Old No. 7 logo, creating a visual identity that remains synonymous with the Jack Daniel's brand. This trademark laid the foundation for the company's enduring success and recognition globally.

Given its status as a leading whiskey brand, Jack Daniel's is vigilant in monitoring and enforcing its trademarks to prevent unauthorized use and infringement. In 2012, Jack Daniel's filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Lonehand Promotions, an Australian company. The dispute was related to Lonehand's use of a similar label on its "Bourbon & Cola" pre-mixed alcoholic beverages, which Jack Daniel's argued resembled its iconic black and white label. The case was settled out of court, with Lonehand agreeing to change its label. In 2018, Jack Daniel's took legal action against VIP Products, a dog toy company. VIP Products produced a chew toy called the "Bad Spaniels," which was a parody of the Jack Daniel's whiskey bottle. Jack Daniel's alleged trademark infringement and dilution. The parties settled the dispute, and Bad Spaniels agreed to discontinue the particular product.
