If you decide to register a wordmark, the words(s) you will register will have 100 % protection. If you discover that a third party uses the exact word/words, you will have legal grounds to stop them. You will be protected in those countries where you register your mark within the scope of any given class that covers your goods/service.
However, if you are using a specific font for your brand/product name, you can consider registering it as a logo mark instead. In such a case, the plain words will also have protection since they form the main part of the logo mark. If a third party copies your brand name using a different font, and their goods and services are similar to yours, you can claim infringement in most cases.
