It is advisable to tie the ownership of a trademark to the entity that will be using it in commerce, which in most cases will be a business.

Owning a trademark as an individual may require drawing up an additional license agreement between the owner and the company, establishing the company as the user of the trademark in question. In addition, more steps may be required should the owner ever sell the company.
